Sitting eight miles west of Minneapolis is the bustling city of Minnetonka. It shares its name with the lake it borders and was first established in 1852 when a settlement was built at the current Minnetonka Mills site. The site held the largest business in Hennepin County at one point, a furniture factory, and later developed into the bustling and diverse city it is today. There are many employment opportunities, from privately held companies like Cargill to the United Health Group.
Residents are also offered abundant outdoor recreational opportunities on Lake Minnetonka, from boating and swimming to ice fishing in the winter. Summer Festival in June, which starts with a fun run and features plenty of activities for all ages throughout the day and ends with an evening of live music and fireworks, and the

Shady Oak Beach and the recreational area offer 85 acres of multi-use land. There are 76 feet of sandy beaches and spring-fed waters to enjoy, playground areas, concessions, water sports rentals, and more.
The Burwell House, a historic home on the register, is owned and operated by the city of Minnetonka and offers tours, is rentable for special events, and makes the perfect spot for a weekday lunch. They hold the Burwell Spooktacular each year, a fun Halloween-themed event.
